Long Easter Weekend
Friday was spent with Tanja, Del and the boys at my parent's house for a turkey dinner and my sister's 30th birthday. Part of her gift from me were a pair of shoes, unfortunately in true Weenie style I bought a pair with two different sizes, so I could only give her one of the shoes. My Mom had made a Ferrero Rocher cake which turned out really well, and Dad's turkey was, as always, great. It was a good afternoon/evening.
Afterwards Asili and I headed down to Whitby to visit Bobbi for the rest of the weekend. The night was spent in good company in a checkers battle, I won't go into details, the appropriate person knows who currently holds the championship title.
For lunch today Bobbi and I went to a Japanese restaurant called Sushi Culture, hence the title of the blog. OMG, it was SOOOOOOO good. Actually made me miss Japan while we were there. Started with gyoza (fried dumplings), which the city I lived in while over there was famous for, that were great!, then moved on to yakitori (chicken skewers smothered in teriyaki sauce) which were fabulous, then on to the main course. I had Japanese Curry (MMMMmmm spot on to what you'd get over there - remember the good curry restaurant in the train station Jayson? Just like that) and Bobbi had a beef teriyaki combo. Needless to say we left stuffed, but it was completely worth it.....so good!!! Oh and not to forget the miso soup and salad that came with the meals. We were both very impressed by the place. Can't wait to go again!!!
Forgot to mention how my day started. The second time I was taking Asili downstairs to go out, Bobbi came with me. While waiting for the elevator a guy came over to greet Asili and she flipped out over it (still REALLY timid and gets freaked out by people she doesn't know). The elevator was packed when we got on at the 16th floor, went down two floors and it stopped to let more people on. :S One guy immediately got off it was too much to handle for him, we were crammed in there (almost as bad as the subways in Tokyo at rush hour)....so a guy and his two kids and a dog get on. This is too much for Asili....it's suddenly feeling very warm down my leg...oh yes, Asili has peed all over me....nice! What do I say? "She just pissed all over me!!!!"....Bobbi didn't hear me so I repeated myself louder in utter shock...an adult says: "Is that piss on the floor!?!"...the little boy who had gotten on at the 14th floors comes to my aid: "Nah, I don't that's pee, I think that's water". I love that kid. Thank you kid where ever you now are!!
So we make it off the elevator and outside before Bobbi loses it laughing. Needless to say we took the stairs up on the way back. I was too scared to tempt the elevator again before we went out for lunch, so I carried 20+lbs Asili down 16 flights and we used the stairs to come back up again. I'll be feeling that come tomorrow I'm sure. I've since gotten over it though and have gone back to using the elevator.
Oh the excitement of waiting to see what the rest of the weekend holds!!!
